Questions
Frequently asked
Has the Road Transport Support Scheme (RTSS) been extended?
Yes. Budget 2027 (6 October 2026) extended the Road Transporters Support Scheme by two months, with €73 million allocated and payment expected before Christmas 2026.
Can I apply for the RTSS extension if I missed RTSS 2026?
Not confirmed yet. The Department of Transport hasn't said whether operators approved under RTSS 2026 will be paid automatically, whether new applicants can apply, or how pending applications will be treated. Register with us and we'll tell you as soon as the rules are published.
How much will the RTSS extension pay?
The Department hasn't published the extension's payment rates, vehicle bands or which months it covers yet. For reference, RTSS 2026 paid per vehicle for each monthly payment: €1,350 for each of the first 5 vehicles, €790 for vehicles 6 to 20, and €300 for each vehicle from 21 upwards.
Who was eligible for RTSS 2026?
Holders of a Road Haulage Operator Licence (issued by the RSA), holders of a Road Passenger Transport Operator Licence (issued by the NTA), and companies running their own trucks over 3,500kg for own-account transport.
What do you charge?
We charge 10% of each payment, and only if your claim succeeds: no claim, no fee. Applying to the government scheme itself is free; our fee covers preparing and filing your application.
Are you the Department of Transport?
No. Fuel Rebates Ireland is an independent grant consultancy operated by Talvara Ltd. We prepare and submit applications on your behalf; approval is decided by the Department under the official scheme rules.
